Dinner in Trinidad
By the time we were done with Lady Bird Johnson Grove we were starving and needed to find the closest place to eat dinner so we stopped back in Trinidad where we had hiked the day before and got to see the beach at Sunset.
Redwood National Forest-Fern Canyon
Adventures with Monica included a trip to Fern Canyon where after driving through a windy dirt wood through the forest we arrived at the pay station where the woman told us that it was another mile or so down the road and that there would be 3 water crossings! (You know, like in Oregon Trail...ford the river and sacrifice some of your passengers, we had no Oxen, just a rental car, a little Kia Forte that we just hoped would make it through...it did well!)
Once we got through all 3 water crossings we hiked into Fern Canyon and realized that there was a lot more water that needed crossing, but eventually found a trail that was relatively dry!
This is one of 3 water crossings we had to drive through!
Finally made it to Arcata/Eureka!
Arcata Farmer's Market with Mary and Shannon, then lunch of delicious Crepes and yes, those are bowls of coffee and hot chocolate! :)
